From Reports of City Officers of the City Of Newark NJ 1905: Engine placed in service January 16th, 1902. Wagon placed in service June 22, 1897. Engine is a second size double La France piston (three-horse hitch), with two-horse Hose Wagon, both in good condition. Engine and Wagon quipped with rubber tires.
From 1920 Board of Commissioner's Manual: Engine placed in service January 16th, 1902. Wagon placed in service May 20th, 1903. Engine is an extra second-sized La France three-horse hitch. Two-horse single 60 gallon tank Champion Babcock Combination Chemical Engine and Hose wagon. Both apparatus in good condition and equipped with rubber tires.
