October 10, 1909 - Few Fires in District, But Engine has Long Runs

From Tom Reiss: Engine 17 was organized in 1901 at 86 Clinton Place at West Runyon St. In 1905 they moved into a new firehouse at 84 Clinton Place (same lot). E17 is sometimes overlooked but was a very busy company and a number of great firefighters came from this house! Around 2003?, E17 was closed and their 2001 Emergency-One pumper was moved to E12.

From Reports of City Officers of the City Of Newark NJ 1905: Engine placed in service March 31st, 1902. Upright Seagrave Combination single Tank 60 gallon Chemical and Hose Wagons, in good condition.

From 1920 Board of Commissioner's Manual: Engine placed in service April 18, 1894. Wagon placed in service September 22nd, 1905. Engine is a third sized-La France, three-horse hitch. Two-horse single 60 gallon tank Champion Babcock Chemical Engine and Hose wagon. Both apparatus in good condition and equipped with rubber tires.
