November 26, 1911 - Proposed Fifteenth Ward Firehouse Designed by Architect Alfred Peter

From Tom Reiss: Engine 23 was organized on October 12, 1913 using E13's 1912 American LaFrance Type 12 pumper. This was the first engine company to be placed in service with a motorized apparatus. They were housed in a new firehouse at 44-46 Mt. Prospect Ave near 6th Ave. Engine 23 was disbanded in 1957 and its members moved to nearby companies E4 & E9. The firehouse continued to be used by the NFD for many years with Rescue 1, Deputy 3, the Bell Siren Club and other units being housed there at various times.
